Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We had our interview today, it lasted 30-40 min. The wait was the worst, we got there 45 min before our appointment time and had to wait 90 min for my name to be called.
Our officer was very nice; he made us feel very comfortable. He asked my husband (USC) most of the questions, like: when did we get married and then how we met (he had to tell him the whole story of our relationship), my birthday, do we have children, where did we get married, where the reception was held, who lives in our house. He asked me some of the questions from I-485 (if I ever voted – he asked me that twice, left the country, was a communist, just the standard questions). Then he asked if we had any documents showing that we lived together, we showed him our lease, bank statements, credit card, car and rental insurance, phone family plan etc. He also asked if we had any pictures, we gave him 2 photo albums; he chose about 10 pictures of us (most of them with other people) and attached to our file. <... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We had our interview at 10.59am. We arrived on sunday and spent the night at the Holiday Inn. We paid $167 per night. The staff was very friendly and rooms absolutely clean. Check out is noon but you can leave your bags in their storage room for the whole day (for free) if you don't want to take it with you to the interview.
From there it takes 8 minutes to walk to the Immigration Building and 5 minutes to the Union station.

We arrived an hour early and we were called for our interview at 12.05 by our interviewer.
There was another guy in the room observing the interview. I think he was a trainee but I'm not sure. He flipped through our photo albums while the officer asked for our IDs, original bc, etc.
He had our file with all the forms and applications on his desk.
First he asked my husband the basic questions and then me (the immigrant)
He asked me since when I'm here and if I know that I overstayed my VWP (we filed before the I-94... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

After getting through security we arrived on the 2nd floor 35 minutes early. The 2nd floor had approximately 40 people in the waiting room. We waited over an hour for Meryll’s name to be called. The officer apologized for calling us late and was very nice. The officer swore us in and asked me, the sponsor, the first questions:
How did we meet?
When and where was our marriage?
If I met her parent’s and what was their names?
If Meryll has met my parents and siblings? To which Meryll supplied pictures.
When Meryll arrived in US?
About my income.
When was Meryll’s birth date?
Then Meryll was asked the questions off the list, plus my birth date, how we met, if she had met my parents, etc.

The immigration officer stated we sounded like a nice couple and said Meryll was approved.

P.S. We found parking 1 block south and 1.5 blocks west of the office between S. LaSalle and S. Financial PL.

We had out AOS interview on 09/08/08. Our interview was scheduled for 11 am. We arrived at 10.45am, checked in on the second floor. We told the lady at the check in desk thet we were waiting for our attorney and she instructed us to have a seat until our attorney arrived. Our attorney arrived 10 mins later and she handed in our interview notice. We were called for our interview at 11.05 by our interviewer. She brought us to her office and proceeded to swear us in and asked our attorney for her credentials. There was another lady in the room observing the interview, maybe a trainee but we weren't sure.
To start with the officer asked for our ids and our original birthcerts etc. Then she took out our file, which contained all the forms and applications we had sent in. She started with my wife, going through her G-325A asking her basic questions - full name, dob, parents' names, addresses etc. (Make sure to read over all the forms that you sent in before interview. Catherine, my w... read complete review
